Tab Sweeper

One website. Multiple windows. One click to sweep them away.

Ever have the same website open in a bunch of browser windows and wish you could close every instance of it without hunting each one down?

Tab Sweeper is a free, experimental browser extension for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox that lets you find and close every open tab belonging to a particular website across your browser windows.

Here's an example: You've got 20 browser windows open and LinkedIn appears in five of them. Open Tab Sweeper, find linkedin.com, select Close all, confirm, and those five tabs are closed. Your unrelated tabs stay open.

What Can Tab Sweeper Do?

✓ Find tabs across all open browser windows
✓ Group open tabs by website domain
✓ Search for a particular website
✓ Close every matching tab at once
✓ Select multiple domains for batch closing
✓ Confirm your selection before closing

Tab Sweeper runs locally in your browser. It requires permission to access and manage browser tabs, but does not require an account or an external service.

How to Use It

Once installed, click the yellow broom icon in your browser toolbar. Tab Sweeper will display websites represented among your open browser tabs.

You can scroll through the website list, use the search field to find a domain, or check several websites at once. Click Close all beside a domain, or Close selected for multiple domains, and confirm.

Website grouping is based on hostnames. For example, www.linkedin.com and linkedin.com are grouped together, while other subdomains may appear as separate entries.

Experimental Extension — Use at Your Own Risk

Tab Sweeper is an experimental browser extension that has not undergone comprehensive testing or an independent security review.

It is provided for educational purposes, convenience, and experimentation on an "as is" basis, without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.

The extension can close multiple browser tabs and may result in the loss of unsaved work, form entries, or active sessions. Closing the last tab in a browser window may also close that window.

Users are responsible for reviewing, installing, and testing the extension and for determining whether it is appropriate for their environment. Install and use at your own risk.

Automated checks do not guarantee compatibility, reliability, or security. Browser updates may affect functionality.
